Quantitative Fisheries Assessment Workgroup
In partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Florida’s marine fisheries support jobs and businesses, tourism, and additional commercial and recreational activities. Access to these socioeconomic benefits relies on sustainable management of the fisheries. Fostering the necessary management is the role of the Quantitative Fisheries Assessment Workgroup, a partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Sustainable management relies on rigorous and credible assessments of fishery stocks. These assessments form the foundation for setting catch limits, size limits, and other regulations to conserve fish stocks. Accurate assessments depend on a comprehensive synthesis of data related to populations of fish and data on environmental, economic, and social issues related to fishing. The Quantitative Fisheries Assessment Workgroup provides the synthetic foundation for making informed decisions regarding Florida’s marine fisheries.
