Our Approach

Informed Policy Making

The Center for Environmental Analysis, Synthesis & Application (CEASA) strives to rapidly compile, synthesize, integrate, and apply ecological, physicochemical, economic, and public health data to better inform environmental management and policy. CEASA fulfills this purpose by employing six tactics.

Our Tactics

  • 01

Initiate and accelerate deeper understanding to address critical environmental challenges

  • 02

Facilitate collaborative syntheses of existing information

  • 03

Foster intellectual exchange that values a wide range of expertise

  • 04

Enhance delivery of well-documented results to scientists, governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and policy makers

  • 05

Respond to known and emerging issues at the local, state, national, and international levels

  • 06

Contribute actively to enhancing education and outreach

Workgroups

Operationally, CEASA relies on assembling workgroups to address high-profile existing and emerging issues. Specific issues are selected by combining input gathered during workshops or via submissions by individual stakeholders.

This dual approach generates both a long-term strategic method to address known or anticipated environmental challenges and a rapid, agile approach to unforeseen environmental events. Highly suitable targets attract multiple, clearly identified stakeholders that can serve as early adopters of synthetic outputs.

Workgroups will comprise experts drawn from academic institutions, governmental agencies, non-governmental entities, and private industry. Members of workgroups will synthesize existing information to yield useful and usable insights.
